19th August 2012 Kayaking - Surf Skiing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: Wind Stength: light Surf / Sea State: flatish Air Temperature: 23 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered: We were having a great weekend with my son Robert and his girlfriend Hannah back home in Felixstowe :) we decided to take the canoes to The Dip.After breakfast on the beach and a chat with my sister ewalking her new puppy we nearly didn't go out as it started to rain:( It soon passed so while I pumped up our Colardo - the first time sine 15th July 2011 !!! Rob took our sit on canoe for Hannah and my old Mistral Suerlight for him to the beach. I was having trouble getting both sides of our boat pumped up correctelly :( so we went out a little flat and twisted !!! Mag and I managed to get aboard without a disaster then discovered we hadn't locked our van so had to return to the carpark !!! but we were soon on our way up the coast to the River Deben mouth, stoping on the chat to chat to old frinds swimming in the sea :) We all made it to the River and had to dodge the boats sailing in and out but we made it to the shingle bar island okay where we stopped a seal playing in the fast shallow water :) Hannah wasn't impressed when Rob headed across without her but she made it okay in the end :) The short trip back took a little longer as we were against the breeze and current ! We enjoyed our short session and hope to get out again soon in the canoe - perhaps we can fit it in the van on our next trip to France in September ?? |
